Obituaries – Monday, January 4th, 2021
Funeral services for Junya Mae Wofford of Salem, age 86, will be held at 11:00 this morning at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Interment will be in the Miner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miner Cemetery.
Graveside services for Barbara Ann (Wells) Land of Salem, age 79, will be held at 11:00 Tuesday morning at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
Graveside services for Michael Vic Smith of Salem, age 70, will be held at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at the Gladden Empire Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
Private graveside services will be held for Jennielou Leonard Morton of Houston, formerly of St. James, age 92. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of St. James.
Sports – Monday, January 4th, 2021
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers dropped a 70-60 decision to Vienna Saturday night in Vienna to fall to 2-6 on the year. They will host the Newburg Wolves in a makeup game from November Tuesday night starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow.
The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will host Cabool tonight in the first SCA Conference game this season at the SHS Gym. Salem enters the game with a 8-4 record. KSMO Radio will carry the varsity game tonight around 7:15 as well as video livestream the game on ksmoradio.com.
The Salem High School will be passing out vouchers for the girls game tonight against Cabool starting at 9:00 this morning. Vouchers for the boys game on Tuesday against Newburg will be available starting at noon today. With the new mask mandate now in effect at the Salem R-80 Schools, all students attending games at the Salem High School will be required to wear a mask! While it is not mandatory for the general public, the Salem R-80 School District recommends masks be worn!
The St. Louis Blues have announced their 56- game schedule for the 2020-2021 regular season. The Blues will open the season against Colorado on January 13th and 15th. All games will be played in a back to back format, but games may be shuffled around depending on any COVID-19 outbreaks.
Jeremiah Tilmon scored 25 and Xavier Pinson netted 23 more as Missouri knocked off 12th ranked Arkansas Saturday, 81-68. Missouri is 7-1 on the year and the Tigers will play Mississippi State Tuesday night. KSMO will join the game in progress after Salem Basketball.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost 38-21 to the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday to end the regular season with a 14-2. They have a bye in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.
