Nina Howard went 2-3 with three RBI and Taylor Bradshaw went 1-2 with three RBI as the Salem Lady Tigers banged out 11 hits and had six batters hit with a pitch as they beat the Steelville Lady Cardinals, 13-3 to go to 9-4 on the year. Trista Heavin and Brooke Adams each had two hits for Salem. They will be at Dora Thursday afternoon at 4:30.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers beat the Lady Bobcats of Thayer in two straight games, 25-6 and 25-18. The JV also won in two straight: 25-23 and 25-19. the Lady Tigers will be at Mountain View Thursday.

You can still sign up your child who is in 1st through the 6th grade for the City of Salem Youth Flag Football League this fall. The cost per child is now $35 that includes a late fee. You can sign up your son or daughter at the Salem Community Center@The Armory at 1200 West Rolla Road and the City Administrative Office at 4th and Iron Streets. Games will be held every Saturday starting October 7th through the 28th at the Al Brown Fields. The FINAL day to sign your child will be this Friday, September 15th. Scoring multiple runs in five different innings Tuesday night, the St. Louis Cardinals demolished the Cincinnati Reds 13-4 at Busch Stadium to keep pressure on the first-place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.
The Cardinals and the Reds will play again tonight at 6:20 on KSMO Radio.

Sam Gaviglio worked five solid innings and Brandon Moss clubbed a first-inning grand slam as the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Moss has homered in three consecutive games, bringing his total to 21. Gaviglio (4-5) allowed two runs on six singles and a double over five innings, while walking two and striking out five. He threw 62 strikes in 87 pitches. The White Sox and Royals play this afternoon. The Royals are now at .500 with a 72-72 record.
