The City of Salem Youth Basketball League for all children in 1st grade through 6th grade will be starting play on December 30th and the league will continue on January 6th, 13th, and 20th. First and second grade teams will be co-ed. Games will be played at the SHS Gym. The registration fee is $25 per player with registration now through November 17th. Late registration will be accepted November 18th through the 30th, but there is a additional $10 late fee. The Salem High School Student Council will be having a Halloween Dodgeball Fundraiser for Evan Lunn and his family tonight at the Salem High School gym from 6:00 to 9:00 that evening. The students will be playing dodgeball, but all community members are welcome to come and watch and support Evan. There is a $1.00 admission charge and any donations are welcome. Concessions will be available at the event.

It’s Class 3, District 1 Semi-Final football action this Friday night at 7:00 in Kennett as the Salem Tigers and the Kennett Indians tangle with the winner going to the District Final next Friday. Both teams enter the game with a 7-3 record. The cost of admission to the game is $7.00 for everyone. Alexander Steen had a goal and three assists, and Paul Stastny added a goal and an assist as the St. Louis Blues beat the Calgary Flames 5-2 on Wednesday night. Jaden Schwartz, Alex Pietrangelo and Joel Edmundson also scored for the Blues, who improved to 3-0-0 at home. The Blues will take on the Carolina Hurricanes Friday night after Salem Tiger Football at 9:15.
