The Salem Fall Sports Banquet will be held tonight starting at 6:30 at the Salem High School Cafeteria. Athletes from the sports of football, cross country, softball and volleyball will be honored at the event along with the fall cheerleaders.

The City of Salem Youth Basketball League for all children in Kindergarten through the 6th grade will be starting play on December 30th and the league will continue on January 6th, 13th, and 20th. Kindergarten through second grade teams will be co-ed and games will be played at the SHS Gym. The registration fee is $25 per player with registration now through November 17th. Late registration will be accepted November 18th through the 30th, but there is a additional $10 late fee. The Royals on Monday extended qualifying offers of $17.4 million each to first baseman Eric Hosmer, third baseman Mike Moustakas and center fielder Lorenzo Cain. Each player has 10 days to accept or decline the offer, during which time they can negotiate with other teams. In other team news, right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy will not opt out of the final three years and $49 million of his contract with the Royals. Kennedy, who turns 33 in December, went 5-13 with a 5.38 ERA for Kansas City in 2017. The season prior to that, his first with the Royals, he was 11-11 with a 3.68 ERA.

The St. Louis Blues will host the Arizona Coyotes tonight staring at 6:30 on KSMO Radio with the pre-game show with the game to follow starting at 7:00. The Blues are in 1st place in Central Division with 25 points.
