The Salem Football Tigers placed five players on the Missouri Media Class 3 Central All-District Second Team. Players named to the All-District Second Team Offense include junior running back Chandler Gray and senior lineman Evan Howard. Tigers named All-District Second Team Defense were senior lineman J.D. Bowling, junior linebacker Sam Ball and senior back Cameron Camden. Salem finished the season with an 8-4 record. They finish tied for second place in the South-Central Association and made it to the Class 3 District 1 championship game where they lost to Park Hills Central after beating Dexter and Kennett. The district teams were selected by sportswriters and sportscasters from the central Missouri region.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will host the Owensville Dutchgirls at 6:00 in their home opener. There is no JV game. Salem enters the game with a 0-2 record.

Today is the last day of late registration for the City of Salem Youth Basketball for all children in Kindergarten through the 6th grade will be accepted. The cost is $35. The Missouri Basketball Tigers will be in Orlando to face the University of Central Florida tonight starting at 7:30 on KSMO Radio. Missouri enters the game with a 5-2 record.

Antoine Vermette scored two goals and John Gibson stopped 37 of 39 shots to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. The Blues will host the LA Kings Friday night at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals are expected to tender contracts to starter Michael Wacha, outfielder Randal Grichuk and reliever Tyler Lyons ahead of Friday’s 7:00 deadline or they would become an immediate free agent.
