A missed extra point by Kennett Kicker Parker McClain in the 4th quarter proved to be the difference as the Salem Football Tigers edged the 2nd seeded Indians in the Class 3, District 1 Semi-Final Friday night by the score of 14-13 in Kennett. Cameron Camden scored in the 2nd quarter on a two-yard quarterback sneak and Quinci Leslie, on his first run of the night, scored on a 46-year run early in the 3rd quarter. Nick Holliday hit both extra points for Salem. Kennett had taken a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter on a seven-yard run for X’Zavier Whitfield. The Indians second touchdown came on a 41-yard pass from Patrick Maddox to Zane Wallace with 6:21 left in the game. Salem is now 8-3 on the year and will be at Park Hills Friday night at 7:00 in the district final.

Vladimir Sobotka and Scottie Upshall each notched their first goals, while Jake Allen stopped 36 shots as St. Louis dumped the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 at Scottrade Center. Defenseman Joel Edmundson added his third goal for the Blues (9-2-1), which tied Los Angeles for the most points (19) in the Western Conference. Kyle Brodziak also tallied his second goal. The fourth line of Upshall, Brodziak and Dmitrij Jaskin combined for two goals and five assists. The Blues are 4-0-0 at home and they will host Los Angeles tonight at 6:30 on KSMO.

St. Louis Blues called up Goaltender Ville Husso from San Antonio of the AHL to back up starter Jake Allen. Backup Goaltender Carter Hutton’s wife is due to give birth to their first child.

Five touchdown passes from quarterback Drew Lock set the pace for Missouri on Saturday at Connecticut, and the Tigers cruised to a non-conference road win 52-12. Missouri (3-5) trailed only briefly following a safety in the game’s early moments. Lock responded with three consecutive touchdown passes to put the Tigers ahead big. Johnathon Johnson finished with a game-high 128 yards on five catches. Lock’s 377 yards on 31-of-37 passing powered Missouri to 583 total yards. Missouri’s win was its second straight, though both came out of conference. They will host Florida Saturday morning at 11:00 on KSMO Radio.
