The Salem Football Tigers clinched the third spot in the district playoffs in Class 3, District 1 last Friday night in Cabool and will host the first round district game Friday night at the SHS Field. Salem earned a 35-6 win over Cabool Friday night at Cabool to move to 6-3 on the year. Chandler Gray rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns, while Cameron Camden threw for a touchdown to Dawson Wynn and scored another on one-yard run. Camden finished with 98 yards rushing on the night. The Salem Tigers will host Dexter in the first round of district play Friday night starting at 7:00.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers are seeded 6th in the Class 3, District 9 playoffs. The Salem Lady Tigers will face Owensville at 7:30 tonight at the Owensville High School Gym. The winner of the match tonight will play the winner of the St. James and St. Clair match Tuesday at 6:15 at Owensville.

Nikita Kucherov scored his fifth goal in five games for Tampa Bay and it proved to be the difference as the Lightning beat the Blues Saturday night, 2-1. Vladimir Tarasenko scored for the Blues who went 2-2 on the four-game road trip. St. Louis will be off until Wednesday when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on KSMO starting at 6:30 with the pre-game show and 7:00 game time.

The Missouri Tigers lost their fifth straight game as they fell to Georgia Saturday by the score of 53-28. Missouri hung with the Bulldogs for the first quarter and the game was tied 21-21 early in the 2nd quarter, but the Bulldogs took over from there and had a 34-21 halftime lead and expanded that lead in the second half. Drew Lock finished with four touchdown passes for Missouri who is now 1-5 on the year. They will host Idaho Saturday at 11:00 AM on KSMO.

 

The University of Missouri has announced that the NCAA has approved an exhibition game to be held Sunday, October 22nd against the Kansas Jayhawks. The game will be at the Sprint Center in Kansas City and the proceeds will go to help those affected by the hurricanes in Florida and Texas. The game will NOT be televised but will be available on the Tiger Network. KSMO will carry the game that day starting at 3:00.

 

Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs' offense struggled throughout the afternoon as the rushing game was held in check by the Pittsburgh Steelers as they defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium by the score of 19-13. Smith completed 19 of 34 passes for 246 yards while rookie running back Kareem Hunt picked up just 21 yards on nine carries. The Chiefs are now 5-1 and will play Thursday at Oakland against the Raiders.
