The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers captured 3rd place in the Owensville Tournament Saturday by defeating Owensville, 57-41. Salem was led in scoring by Cody Rictor with 12 points followed by Carter Chilton with ten points. Salem qualified for the 3rd place game by beating Cuba Friday night by the score of 62-44. Salem was led by Cody Rictor with 14 points followed by Lawson Toman with 11 more and Carter Chilton with ten points. Salem is now 4-8 on the year and they will be in Sullivan tomorrow night with freshman, JV and varsity games starting at 5:00

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be on the road at Mountain View to face the Liberty Lady Eagles tonight starting with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. Salem enters the game with a 5-8 record and 0-1 in the SCA.

After a lackluster performance on Saturday in Philadelphia where the St. Louis Blues lost 6-3, they came out with a much better effort Sunday and led 2-1 after two periods. But for the first time this season when they were leading after two periods, the Blues could not hold on and lost to the Washington Capitals in overtime, 4-3. The Blues had goals from Alexander Steen, Carl Gunnarson and Vladimir Tarasenko. The Blues will host Florida Tuesday night and the game can be heard on a delayed broadcast after Salem Tiger basketball at about 9:10.

The Florida Gators’ Chris Chiozza stole a pass and cruised in for a layup with 1 second left to give Florida a come-from- behind 77-75 victory Saturday at Mizzou Arena. Jordan Barnett led Missouri with 28 points, and Robertson added 12. Missouri falls to 11-4 on the year and 1-1 in the SEC Conference. They will host Georgia Wednesday night at 7:30 and you can hear that game on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs built a 21-3 halftime lead against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, but could not generate any offense in the 2nd half and fell to the Titans, 22-21. Alex Smith generally played well completing 24 of 33 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns, but only threw for just 33 yards in the second half after tight end Travis Kelce was injured. The 18-point comeback tied for the second-largest on the road in NFL playoff history. The Chiefs finish the season with a 10-7 record.
