Reese Dodson led the Salem Tigers with 16 points and Cody Rictor added 15 more, with all of his points coming in the 2nd half including a key field goal in overtime, to lead Salem to a 58-55 overtime win over Houston. Salem improves to 6-15 on the year and they are 1-3 in the SCA Conference with the victory. The Tigers will be busy this week as they host the Ava Bears in a makeup game from last Tuesday evening tonight at the SHS gym. The JV game will be at 6:00 and the varsity game with follow. The 9th grade basketball game originally scheduled will not be made up. You can hear the varsity game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com starting at about 7:15.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at Cabool tonight to face the Lady Bulldogs in SCA Conference play starting at 6:00 with the JV game and the varsity game will follow. Salem enters the game with a 9-12 record and they are 2-3 in the SCA.

Sidney Crosby scored twice, including his 400th career goal, to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. Bryan Rust snapped a tie with a third-period tally and Riley Sheahan also scored for the Penguins as they scored three unanswered goals in the 3rd period. Kyle Brodziak scored the only goal for the Blues Sunday. Friday night the Blues beat Winnipeg by the score of 5-2 with Vladimir Taranseko scoring two goals in that game. Also scoring Friday night for the Blues were Patrik Berglund, Alexander Steen and Jaden Schwartz. The Blues will be in Nashville Tuesday night in a game that will be broadcast after Salem Basketball at about 9:10 on KSMO Radio.

Kevin Puryear made a three-pointer with ten seconds left in overtime from the left corner to give Missouri the lead in an 89-85 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday. Jordan Geist scored 17 points, Jordan Barnett had 15 and Jontay Porter added 10 for Missouri as they won for the fourth straight time and they are 17-8 overall and 7-5 Southeastern Conference. They will play Texas A&M Tuesday night.

The City of Salem Youth Soccer League signups are going on now at the Salem Community Center@The Armory at 1200 West Rolla Road during normal business hours from 8:00 until 4:30. The Youth Soccer League is for children age 14 and under. The league will begin April 7th at the Al Brown Park and last until April 28th.
