Jose Martinez’s first career grand slam highlighted a nine-run fourth inning, helping the St. Louis Cardinals cruise to a 13-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. Kolten Wong and Paul DeJong had three hits each as the Cardinals (55-56) took two of three in the series. The Cards will be in Kansas City tonight to face the Royals at 6:20 on KSMO Radio.

The Seattle Mariners jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first game of a doubleheader and held on for an 8-7 win in the first game, and in the second game, Melky Cabrera hit a tone-setting home run and rookie Jake Junis logged a career-high 7 strikeouts as the Royals won the second game, 9-1 to split the doubleheader. The Royals are now in tied for the second wild card spot in AL.
