Jon Arzt gave up one run on five hits as the Salem Tigers defeated Cabool in a five inning contest by the final score of 11-1 Saturday afternoon in a makeup game to win the SCA Conference Title with a perfect conference record of 7-0. Salem’s overall record is 15-1 and they are ranked 9th in the state in the latest Missouri Coaches Poll. Nate Bray went 4-4 in the game as the Tigers will be on the road today in another makeup game as they travel to Potosi. The Salem Tennis Tigers will play Licking at home today at 1:00 PM in the first round of District play. Salem will play tomorrow if they win today.

Tommy Pham went 4-for-5 and hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the 14th inning, to lift the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday at Sun Trust Park and a sweep of the three game series. The winning pitcher was Sam Tuivailala (1-0), who pitched two scoreless innings. Kevin Siegrist pitched a scoreless 14th for his first save. Michale Wacha started and went six innings giving up only two runs. Matt carpenter also homered for St. Louis who will be in Miami tonight to face the Marlins. Game time is 6:00 and KSMO will join the game in progress after Salem baseball.

Mike Clevinger and four Cleveland relievers combined for a one-hitter as the Indians shut out the Kansas City Royals 1-0 on Sunday. Salvador Perez’s fourth-inning double was the lone Kansas City hit. Danny Duffy took the loss. The Royals will open a four-game series Monday at Tampa Bay.

Ryan Johansen’s tie-breaking goal at 3:15 of the third period lifted the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues and a 4-2 series victory, advancing them to the Western Conference finals for the first time in the franchise’s 19-year history. The Blues had the lead when Paul Stastny scored early in the 1st period, but the Blues could not hold on as Nashville tied it early in the second period to settle the game in the crucial third period.
