G.T. Nicholson scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Licking Wildcats past Salem, 64-48 Thursday night in Cat Classic. Kaden Quick added 14 points while Clabe Sullins scored 12 points for Licking. Reese Dodson led Salem with 10 points. Salem is 2-7 on the year and will be off until January.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will face Owensville for the second time this year today at 5:30 in Sullivan at the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in the Consolation Championship. Salem enters the game with a 2-4 record. Earlier this year, Salem beat Owensville, 52-44.

Kevin Roy scored two goals and the Anaheim Ducks sent the Blues to their second straight home loss, 3-1 Thursday night. The Blues will have a home and home series with the Winnipeg Jets starting Saturday at 5:30 in St. Louis before traveling to Winnipeg and facing the Jets at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have traded outfielder Stephen Piscotty to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor league shortstop Yairo Muñoz and second baseman Max Schrock. The 26-year old Piscotty was the Cardinals supplemental first round draft pick out of Stanford University in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. Piscotty batted .268 with 38 home runs and 163 RBI over 323 career Major League games. He signed a six-year contract extension with the Cardinals on April 3, 2017.
