The Salem Tigers Fall Sports season begins this afternoon when the Salem Lady Softball Tigers host East Carter Lady Redbirds at the Salem City Park at 4:30.

The Salem Football Tigers will host McDonald County Mustangs tonight starting at 7:00 at the SHS Football Field. That game can be heard on KSMO and ksmoradio.com starting at 6:30 with Tiger Talk and Coach Brian McNamee. The game will be recorded for playback on Fidelity Local 6.

Dexter Fowler drove in three runs and scored three times as the St. Louis Cardinals broke a three-game losing streak with an 11-7 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The Cards trailed early in the game, 5-1. Jedd Gyorko homered for St. Louis who are 1 ½ games out of 1st place in the Central Division. The Cards will play Pittsburgh again tonight on a delayed basis on KSMO after Salem Tigers Football at about 9:15, then on Saturday at 2:10 and Sunday at 5:05.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced that they have placed right-handed pitcher Trevor Rosenthal on the 10-day disabled list with right posterior elbow irritation. Right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver was recalled from Memphis (AAA).

The Kansas City Royals were off Thursday and they will host the Cleveland Indians this weekend.
